Kew Royal Botanical Gardens Robin

This jolly chap is now on tea-towels and Christmas cards at Kew Royal Botanical Gardens.

I hand painted him with watercolours and adjusted the colours slightly on Photoshop.  I'm thinking of stocking up on a few cards and one of the tea towels.  Here's the link to the tea-towel and Christmas cards in Kew's online shop.

They even included my name on the back of the cards and the website - yay!

Good Homes - Cosy in the country.

Hello everyone,  I hope you're all good?  My home was featured in this months Good Homes Magazine (November 2013).  It's quite strange to see the pictures in print, especially while I'm now typing at my turquoise desk right now!  It's about the converted barn mostly and how we've decorated it, including bits about the items I make for our home and the planet-kind homeware I design and hand-print for Beetroot Press; my small business.  I've scanned in the pages below for you to see and I'm currently cosy-ing up our home more because of the drop in temperature.  Extra blankets are coming out, candles lit and hot water bottles in bed!  Hope you enjoy reading, or you can still grab a copy in the shops now until the 25th Oct.

As we are planning to have a quiet Christmas at ours this year, I'm hoping to make some simple christmas decorations for the barn, so I'll share these with you at a later date.

Keka cases by Solid Line Products

Hello  everyone,
I know it's going to get really busy this month, I'm making loads of Beetroot Press stock for a Pop-up shop in Columbia road, London, I'll paste a bit more info soon, but feeling like I'm getting a bit behind...eek

I've also recently licensed my designs to Keka by Solid Line Products, an American company.  They create and sell cases for iPads and kindles.  The hard back covers are water-resistant, use eco-friendly inks and they use the same type of vinyl used on race cars which is wrapped around recycled book boards.  I really want an ipad so feel like I have to get one now just so I can have one of my own designs on the case!....Although they don't seem to be shipping to the UK...yet

Here's the link to my page on the Keka website: Keka

Flower painting

Hello everyone, it's been so bitterly cold this week, snow, and windy weather do not make good companions.  I'm going a little crazy being stuck in the house, so think I'll have to brave it outside to clear my head, and get some fresh air.

Last week there was a day of blissful sun, so I painted some flowers outside.  Below are some photos of what I produced.  I painted hyacinths as I had some in bloom, (which smell delightful), and some cute border florals and butterflies with watercolour paints.

Just need to work these into designs on Illustrator now!

New patterns

Hi there and happy Friday!  These last 2 weeks have been busy for me, so am very ready to relax this weekend.  I've added a couple of new items to my Beetroot Press shops on Folksy and Etsy, A4 paper prints for your wall, and more to follow in A3 too!

I've also started growing some peas, radishes and salad rocket, with tomatoes to follow.  We don't have loads of outside space so will be interesting to see where I'm going to fit it all.  Eek!
Scandi apple:  BHS design for kitchenware
I've also been working on updating my portfolio with new designs and revamping older designs.   Below are some of those and I'll add a few more in a couple of weeks.  Take a look at my online portfolio to take a peek.

Decorative frames: Paper goods
Zig zag: Home and paper goods
Paper cut sky: Home and stationary
Photographic floral: Girls fashion/Home/Paper goods

Design - an apple for the teacher

Yay!  Beetroot Press tea-towel: 'An Apple for the Teacher', made it onto the Folksy; Gifts for teachers.  Have a look here.  It's hand printed with silk screens onto linen fabric.  The inks are water-based so are eco-friendly and linen is a sustainable textile.  It's £15 on my Folksy or Etsy pages.

The Folksy page also shows lots of other great hand-made gifts that you could buy for your teacher for  an end of year leaving present.

Design - summer florals

Hi everyone.  To forget the rain and brighten your day I have added some designs that I worked on a couple of weeks ago to update my portfolio.  Have a look here if you want to see the rest.

I drew this design in the garden, on a sunny day, a couple of weeks ago.

This is a re-colour of an older pattern I did.  Loving the fresh colours!

Bicycles and flowers, what more could you want in summer (apart from the sun).

I love this Moth print, I drew this in the garden too.  I sketched the outlines and then coloured and arranged in Illustrator.

This design was inspired by some vintage fabric my Mum had lying around the house.
